Live dashboard from drydock • Managing penetrations across multiple contractors
Every feature designed for the chaos of real dry docks. No theoretical solutions—just what actually works.
Contractors scan a QR code or tap a link — no password, no app, no accounts. The pen ID and fire zone are assigned automatically from deck and frame, so there's nothing to look up.
Every opening and closing captured with timestamped photos — compressed on-device and queued so a weak signal never loses a shot.
One-click, survey-grade close-out report: vessel identity, per-penetration records with photos, outstanding items, and a full audit trail — structured to SOLAS II-2 Reg. 9 and IACS UR Z28 for class and flag-state review.
15+ contractors? No problem. Everyone updates the same source of truth in real-time.
Alerts when pens are opened, closed, or approaching verification deadlines.
Structured sign-off with a tamper-evident audit trail — every status change and edit is logged with who and when. Nothing slips through, and nothing can be quietly altered.
Premium: Compare dry dock performance across your entire fleet. Identify trends.
Offline-first and web-based — works in any shipyard, on any device, signal or not. Captures sync automatically when you're back online. No app store, no infrastructure.
On any given morning in a drydock, few people can say which fire boundaries are currently open. The record sits in a contractor's spreadsheet, updated when someone remembers, then reconciled in a rush before the surveyor arrives.
PenLog generates a daily Fire Integrity Status sheet. One page, regenerated every morning, listing every penetration currently recorded as open, sorted by deck and fire zone, with the A-60 divisions flagged at the top because those are the main fire-resisting boundaries.
It does not certify a boundary as intact and it says so plainly. It is a companion to the fire plan and the hot-work permit list, never a replacement. It goes to the people who need it during the dock: ship's safety officer, attending superintendent, yard safety office, fire patrol, ECR, and it is posted with the fire control plan.
See what is open, sealed, and verified across every contractor from your desk. No need to be on board to know where the fire boundaries stand.
A tamper-evident audit trail and a close-out report that assembles itself to SOLAS II-2 and UR Z28. No end-of-dock spreadsheet scramble.
PenLog builds the record from the work as it happens. No upfront vessel mapping, no register to buy first. It works on any ship from day one of the dock.

No! Contractors get a simple link. They click it, submit pen status, upload photos, and they're done. No app downloads, no passwords, no training required.
Yes. All data is encrypted in transit and at rest. Photos are stored securely. We're GDPR compliant. Your dry dock data is yours—you can export it anytime in standard formats (PDF, Excel).
Yes — PenLog is offline-first. Contractors can record a penetration and capture its photos with no signal at all. Everything is saved on the device and syncs automatically the moment a connection returns — nothing is lost, even if the app is closed in between. Built for the reality of steel hulls and dead zones.
PenLog generates documentation that meets SOLAS Chapter II-2 and IACS UR Z28 requirements for penetrations through fire-rated divisions. Classification Society surveyors (Lloyd's Register, DNV, ABS, etc.) verify compliance during drydock based on the completeness and accuracy of your records - not which tool you used to create them. Our exports include all standard information required: pen location, contractor, opening/closing dates, photos, and verification status. We recommend showing your surveyor a sample export before the drydock to confirm it meets their specific preferences. Every record also carries a system-generated timestamp and named attribution, and can't be altered without the change appearing in the audit trail — the kind of integrity surveyors look for.
